Nobody was doing anything for my area and I wanted to make a difference. So, I stood as a Councillor and the people of Ashton elected me in 2003 and again in 2007.

    Hi eb11,
I became a Councillor by accident, as I never thought I would become a Councillor.
I got involved with saving a local playing field from becoming a site for a Developer.
We did not want to lose the green space so I started an action group with the help of some other people.
We asked the local Councillors for help but they seemed keen to sell the field in the end we won….:) and then I was asked to stand for Council, the rest is History…
    Thanks
    Gary
