Question: do you think the issue of too many pubs, tanning studios and takeaways is important? if so what would you do to reduce it? what is YOUR favourite takeway or would you like to get rid of them all together?

I do think that there are too many businesses doing the same thing. But, thats what you get with free trade. Years ago this wasn’t possible but now the rules have been relaxed and look what happens! My favourite take-away would be Burger King!

Hi izzy
We do need a good variety of shops, especially in our local centres. Sadly we cant choose what type of businesses that fill our shops, the council doesnt have that authority to stop the puplics demand. The Government make money from shops in the form of a tax and sadly the Gov’ supports the council in collecting this tax as it pays for the upkeeping of the area.
It is a supply and demand culture, people require takeaways and tanning shops so the council has very limited infulence in stopping any business from starting up. We do have far too many takeaways but they seem to exsist which is evidence that we need them – in the Gov’s eyes.
I must confess, I do have a weak spot for a curry now and again, and i may buy one, once a month. I like salt and pepper chips too 😀 But we do have to be careful that we dont eat too much fast food; especially late at night. Good question izzy.
Thanks Gary.
