Taxi’s do seem expensive to me – it cost £12 to get from Ashton to Wigan!!

If we are looking to get more people using public transport, then the cost of bus fares needs to be lower. The trouble is that these companies are privately owned so they all want to make profits. Would be better, maybe, if the Government owned public transport like it used to.

Well we do not know the full answer, but I am aware that everything is on the table in the spending review, so we will have to wait and see.

    Hi aisha,
To my knowledge I think the bus’s have already gone up once this year, they should not rise again until next year, taxis have not gone up for about two years the Council controls the price increase for taxi’s but they do not control the rise for the bus’s.
I would give free public transport for all people in full time education like you and your friends if I was leader of the Council.
I use the train from Bryn railway station to go into Wigan at the weekends, i get a return ticket and it cost me £1.60 🙂 its cheaper than using my car.
    Regards
    Gary
