Thank you Lucy and lets hope we can convince those in control of the money to spend it wisely on our health needs.

    Thanks Lucy,

It would be great but I don’t want people to have to go to hospital. My job is working in preventing people getting the health problems in the first place. We should work with you and your family to ensure you know how to lead a healthy life, so you don’t have any risks of getting lots of nasty illnesses when you get older.

I agree, I would like to see hospitals with excellent facilites for people to use when they are really sick. Unfortunately I don’t think the NHS is the model to best deliver this, it compares poorly with other models, for example as a man in the UK I have a cancer survival rate of 44.8% compared to 66.3% for a male in America. Despite the UK government spending Billions on health care, its not as simple as building more hopsitals sadly.

We have a system which is designed to treat existing sickness, where as the focus should be on stopping them developing. So for example each year we spend £750000000 on medicines for diseases that are preventable e.g. illnesses that people never should have developed. The NHS spends £1000000 a week just on anti-obesity drugs. I don’t think new hospitals on their own are enough, but there needs to be a complete culture change within the NHS as well to make things better.

Hi Lucy,Firstly thank you for your very good question.
Secondly thank you for your kind comment I’m sure all the Councillors appreciate you noticing how smart they look.
Thirdly, I agree with you, we do need more Hospitals, New one’s near were people live, with ample free parking space and good fast transport links.(that’s bus’s, trains or trams)
We need hospitals with clean wards and good doctors and nurses sadly the present government will not carry on with the good work which has already been done by the previous government.
We will see a lot of changes to Hospitals over the next few years and it won’t be all good. 🙁
If you are thinking of becoming a Nurse or a Doctor can I wish you all the luck, I feel they work very hard and it’s a job to be proud of.
    Regards
    Gary
