I have actually challenged people when I have seen them litter. Ask them to be more responsible in disposing of their litter in future, you never know, you may embarrass them into doing the right thing. Dont, however, get into arguments. if it persists, then report it to your Ward Councillor. If its in Ashton, I’d be happy to help.
Hi aisha,
This is not good, firstly I would ask the Council to place a bin near your house so people could use it rather than dump litter in your garden.
We need to educate people on the issue of litter; manners cost nothing but have a lasting effect on our community especially when people respect one another.
I see people throw litter on the floor a lot and I do challenge them to pick it up, we have a really poor record in this area for litter.
Don’t give up keep telling people not to litter and the message will sink in eventually.
Thank you, Gary
That’s very sad to hear aisha, I wish those teenagers had more respect for the environment, as we all need to live together. Littering is a problem all across the country, we need to make sure bigger sanctions are in place to deter offences. I feel a key deterrent to dropping litter, is keeping streets clean and tidy.
