Me and my council work

I am a “hands-on” Councillor and work hard for the people I represent. I don’t like “No” as an answer, and I will always try to ensure we get positive results. I have previously been a Youth Worker (over 25 years) and keen to ensure our young people are listened to and their voices are heard.

My work as a Councillor is wide and varied. Clearly there are a lot of meetings I need to attend, but I am always available either by phone, email, letter or via my surgeries. Being an active Councillor, and one that makes things happen, I receive lots of calls and appeals for help.

My Typical Day

Busy from the moment I wake until I go to sleep. Have a very active schedule and involved in lots of community support work.

In addition to my busy workload, I am also a Ward Councillor to the 3rd largest Town in Wigan Borough. Phonecalls to make; emails to respond to and listening to people with needs and concerns. I’m a 24/7 person!

What I'd do as "Youth Champion"

Continue to ensure that our Youth get what they are looking for and need rather than people sat in offices trying to dictate to our Youth.
